How I Grew My Brand Without Just Picking ONE Niche (And You Can, Too)

You don’t need one niche to grow. Learn how to build a clear, multi-passionate brand that connects, converts, and lights you up.

If you’ve been in the online business world for more than a minute, you’ve probably heard this advice on repeat:

👉 “You have to pick a niche if you want to grow.”
👉 “You’re confusing people if you talk about too many things.”
👉 “Get known for one thing.”

Sound familiar?

At one point, I believed it too. I forced myself into one box, thinking I had to only talk about Canva, or only content systems, or only branding. But here’s the truth I learned—and what I want to share with you in this post:

You do not have to shrink yourself to one ultra-specific niche to grow a powerful, profitable brand.

In fact, building a multi-passionate business might be the exact thing that sets you apart.

Let’s bust this myth wide open and talk about what actually matters when you want to grow your brand and feel good doing it.

The Niche-Only Myth (And Why It Feels So Heavy)

The advice to pick a niche is everywhere. And to be fair, it’s rooted in some truth:

  • Clear messaging cuts through saturated markets

  • People want to know quickly what you do

  • Confused people don’t buy

But somewhere along the way, that helpful advice got twisted into something way more rigid:

❌ “You can only talk about one thing—forever.”
❌ “Multi-passionate = messy.”
❌ “If you like variety, you’re not serious.”

And if you’re anything like me (or my community), that pressure feels creatively suffocating.

What I Did Instead (That Actually Worked)

When I started my business, everyone wanted me to pick one thing. Some said:

  • “Only talk about Canva—you’re the Canva queen.”

  • “Be the systems girl. Focus on content batching.”

  • “Just stick to branding. You love fonts and colors.”

And while it sounded good in theory, in reality? It felt like putting on pants that didn’t fit.

I loved all those things—and more. Canva, content, branding, email marketing, systems, mindset... they were all part of my journey. I couldn’t choose one without leaving out major parts of what helped me succeed.

So instead of shrinking, I zoomed out.

I asked: What’s the bigger umbrella these topics fall under?

And for me, the answer was content marketing for female solopreneurs. Once I saw that, everything clicked.

You Don’t Need a Narrower Niche—You Need a Clearer Structure

Here’s what I know now:

You don’t need to get ultra-niche in the topic.
You need structure in your content and messaging.

These three steps helped me build a multi-passionate brand without confusing my audience:

1. I Defined My Content Pillars

Your content pillars are 3–5 core topics you love talking about that all serve the same person. Mine include:

  • Content Strategy & Growth

  • Canva, Branding & Design

  • Business Systems & Productivity

  • Mindset & Business Balance

  • Email Marketing

Together, they all fall under the umbrella of content marketing. I cycle through these themes, which keeps my brand cohesive and exciting for me to create content.

2. I Got Obsessively Clear on Who I Serve

Rather than niching down into just Canva tutorials or just email sequences, I focused on getting hyper-specific about who I help:

🎯 Female service-based solopreneurs
🎯 1–2 years into their business
🎯 Already using Canva & Instagram
🎯 Wanting to simplify and level up their marketing

This clarity makes every piece of content I create feel relevant—even if I switch between Canva one day and mindset the next. Because the person I’m helping is the same.

3. I Let My Personality Shine

Your niche isn’t just what you do. It’s how you do it.

The best thing I ever did for my business was give myself permission to be fully me. I stopped filtering. I shared my jokes, quirks, and hot takes (yes, it’s niche, not neesh 🙃). And guess what?

It attracted exactly the kind of people I wanted to work with.

What Happened When I Embraced a Broader Brand

Since embracing this multi-passionate model, here’s what I’ve seen:

💥 More aligned clients showing up naturally
💥 More consistency with my content because I actually enjoy creating it
💥 Steady Instagram and email list growth
💥 Zero burnout after years in business

And maybe most important of all?

💛 I still love what I do. I’ve created a business that feels like me—and it keeps evolving as I do.

But Won’t I Confuse My Audience?

Let me give you a little reality check:

You won’t confuse your audience if your structure is strong. You will confuse them if you show up without clarity.

Here’s how I keep things focused:

  • I only talk about things I want to be known for

  • I run every idea through a “DM test”:

“Would I enjoy answering this question 10 times in the DMs?”

If the answer is yes—go for it. If not? That’s a no from me (looking at you, ManyChat 😅).

This strategy helps you attract the right people while keeping your energy high and your creativity flowing.

So What Should You Do If You’re Multi-Passionate?

If you’re stuck on picking a niche, try this instead:

✅ 1. Create 3–5 Content Pillars

Pick topics that:

  • Light you up

  • Fall under a common umbrella

  • Help your ideal client solve a specific problem

✅ 2. Get Clear on Your Ideal Client

Ask yourself:

  • Who exactly am I here to help?

  • Where are they in their journey?

  • What do they already know (or struggle with)?

The more specific you are about your person, the more flexible you can be with your content.

✅ 3. Use Stories & Email for the Extras

Not every idea needs to go on your feed.

Want to share your tie-dye skirt obsession or your go-to cookie recipe? Post that in your:

  • Instagram Stories

  • Weekly email newsletter

  • Behind-the-scenes content

This builds connection without muddying your brand message.

Final Thoughts – You Are Not “Too Much”

If you’ve ever felt like you’re too passionate, too all over the place, or too much to build a strong brand—this is your reminder:

🧡 You are exactly the kind of business owner we need more of.
🧡 You can be multi-passionate and magnetic.
🧡 You don’t have to choose one tiny lane and stay there forever.

What you do need is:

✔ Clarity
✔ Structure
✔ Confidence to lead your audience where you want to go

So give yourself the freedom to build a brand that feels like home.
